Shopify Tutorial – Build Your Online Store Using Shopify

Now, follow these steps to do it:

Step 1: Create Your Shopify Account

The first and foremost step is to go to the Shopify site and create a Shopify account for your business.

You have to enter your email address for signing in and to start your free trial. Also, Keep in mind that you can change your store name after the trial version.

After creating your store, there will be a column in which you have to tell something about your business idea. After all that, press on Enter my store and you are all set to go.

Step 2: Go to Online Store & Customize Your Shopify Theme

The next step is that after entering the dashboard you will see the sales channels column below which will be the Online store category. 

In the online store, go on to press the themes section for customization.

Step 3: Optimize Your Shopify Online Store

When you start the trial version, the website’s settings will be in default mode. You have to make certain changes to your site’s settings.

Start by clicking the settings button in the bottom left corner of the dashboard.

Fill in General Settings: (Image below)

Here you have to enter the legal business name, contact email of business, Industry of the business, sender email, phone number, and more.

Save all the information and move on to the next step.

Step 4: Setup Payment Provider Options

Under the Settings column, you will see payment provider options next to general settings. 

Make sure to complete the account setup for Shopify payments, Paypal, and any other third-party applications that you think will be useful to you.

Step 5: Setup The Checkout, Account & Shipping Settings

If you do not have to force your customers to compulsorily register in your store. So choose customer accounts to “optional” in the checkout settings.

About shipping and delivery, make sure to choose the best options for your business. It is always good to have a free shipping service thus it may drive more customers.

On account settings, fill out the basic information about your store.

Step 6: Choose Your Store Preferences

Under the online store sections, go on to the preferences settings where you have to enter the homepage title and meta description for the store’s homepage.

Step 7:Register Your Shopify Domain

  1. On your Shopify dashboard, go to Online Store > Domains section.
  2. Click Buy new domain if you want a new one and if you are good with the old domain then it is all up to you.
  3. Enter the new domain name that you want to purchase on.
  4. Then, all the available extensions and their prices will be listed.
  5. Click Buy next to the domain that you want to purchase on.
  6. That all! You now have your new domain name. Make sure to choose the new domain name that you purchased to be your default URL.

Step 8: Create Pages For Your Store

Let’s start here. After completing all those necessary basic settings, finally, you are here to create pages for your store.

  • Create your Homepage
  • Contact us page
  • About us page
  • Shipping Policy page
  • Offers/Deals page

After creating the essential pages, go to the navigation section under online store settings, and set the main menu options.

Step 9: Add Products To Your Store

Well, next is to add products to your store. Go to the “Products” section in your dashboard as seen in the image above. 

Next, you will see an “Add product” button on the upper right corner. Click on it to add products.

If you are not having any product and you are selling some other vendor’s product, then you could “Import” from their sites. This sounds more like dropshipping.

Remember to optimize the product page! Add a title, meta description, and some features about the product so that customers may find it useful for purchasing.

Step 10: Create Collections To Display

Next is to create “Collections”. Collections are a set of similar product types like under Men’s clothing there will be all types of men’s clothes to buy on.

Creating collection pages gives you more options to display the collections tab in the header menu and showcase your products more effectively.

Just look at the image above and click on the create collection button to create one.

Make sure to optimize the collection page with an appropriate title, meta description, and some other details. You also have to check in with the Inventory details to see if the products are in/out of stocks.

Step 11: Check The Completion of all settings

This is all! By now if you were following all the steps, you should have completed giving in all the details that are required. Double-check all the below listed terms to see if you have completed it all.

  • Your Shopify store details
  • Business Name 
  • Business Logo
  •  Theme selection
  • Store Customization
  • Setup of Checkout, Payment, Delivery & Shipping policy options.
